After reading 30-33, answer the two questions below. Make sure you label question 1 and question 2 in your answer.

Question 1:
In chapter 31, Pa says, “I was outside Hector’s bodega… and Mike started walking toward me like nothing ever happened. It took a lot for me not to yell at him for getting you in trouble. So, I just told him I’m disappointed in him and he better realize I’m good to him as long as he’s good to you.” What is the significance of this event?

Question 2:
How are things different when Brian is hanging out with Big Will? How do you think Brian feels about this?

Q1: This event is important because it shows that Pa can show that he is mad or disappointed in someone with out getting into fights or yelling. It demonstrates that Pa is getting more and more self control.

Q2: Things are different with Big Will because there is no drama when Brian and Will are hanging out because they just chill by the shore watching the sunset or relax on the grass watching Luke Cage and other TV shows, whereas when Brian hangs out with Mike they cut school, hop turnstiles and go train surfing. Brian feels that there is so much less drama when he hangs out with Will and he feels Big Will is a much better friend than Mike.

I fully agree with you on question 2, about how Brian and Big Will just want to relax. Also that Brian feels like there is a lot less drama.

Q1: the significance of this event is that Mike really looked up to Pa and him saying he was disappointed in him probably made him really upset. Q2:Things are different in many ways when he hangs out with big will he is happier, he is less pressured to to bad things. I think Bryan is kind of happy that he doesn't have to hang out with mike anymore.

Question 1:
The significance of that piece of text is that it tells us that Pa is on Bryan's side even if he is disappointed in him. It also tells us that Pa is starting to learn to control his temper a little bit which makes it less likely for him to go to jail again.
Question 2:
Things are different when Bryan is hanging out with Big Will because he and Big Will both don't want to do anything wrong and they both like to be calm and relaxed. They have a lot of things in common like their love of super heroes and super villains. Also, when Bryan sort of freaked out Big Will helped him calm down but if Mike had been on Bryans side instead of Big Will he probably would have encouraged Bryan to fight because he would have thought it was funny. I think Bryan feels good about hanging out with Big Will and knowing that he is doing the right thing. Also, I bet he enjoys knowing that his parents have his back and that his friend has his back he might even feel great about this.

Question 1: Significance of that peace of text is that Pa is more upset at Mike than he is at Brian and that Pa is on Brian's side and not Mikes. Pa has never really payed a lot of attention to Brian before and I am sure that Brian feels better knowing that Pa took the time to tell him this, even though he is still disappointed in him.
Question 2: Things are very different with Big Will because they both are just calm and just want to relax and watch movies. When Brian is with Mike, Mike only wanted to do stuff that made him look cool and tough. Like train surfing and cutting school. Big Will and Brain also have a lot more in common with each other. They both love comics and super heroes and supper villains. They also just want peace and quiet. I think that Brian feels relaxed and calm and he feels like he is not going to get in trouble with him because they just talk about supper heroes. I am sure he feels really good with Big Will.
