After reading 17-21, answer the two questions below. Make sure you label question 1 and question 2 in your answer.

Question 1:
In these chapters, Brian makes some uncharacteristic decisions. What is one example of a decision he made that was unlike the character we have been learning about? Why do you think he is making these decisions?

Question 2:
In chapter 20, Brian thinks, “I feel so far away from where I should be. It might sound silly, but I feel far away from who I am.” What does he mean by this? Why do you think he feels this way?

question 1: Brian decides to skip school. i think that he does this because he has been hanging out with mike a lot and mike is a bad influence on him. he also doesn't want to seem soft around him. and i just think he wants to let out his ager and needs a break.

question 2: i think brian feels this way because he has been acting not like himself and he is acting a little like mike. i think he knows he is acting like this and he wants to get away from this.

I agree Mike isn’t a great influence on Brian which Causes Brian to not act like himself

Question 1: One example of a thing that Brain wouldn’t usually do is skip school and go get comics. I think he did this Because he wants Mike to like him and to not think he’s soft.

Question 2: I think Brian feels like this isn’t him faking his moms note to get out of school and to go get a comic. I think he knows that he shouldn’t be doing this and would get in a lot of trouble but he wants to keep his only friend.

1. One example of when Bryan was being unlike himself was when he skipped school to go get comics and Starbucks. I think that Bryan did this because he wanted to look cool in front of Mike.
2. He means that he isn't like himself. I think Bryan feels far away from who he is because what he is doing is so unlike him and his personality.

1.one example is when Bryan skips school. I think mike has a bad influence on Bryan. maybe Bryan wanted to be like mike or act cool.

2. Bryan means that he is not really being himself under mikes influence. he is doing something that he would not imagine himself doing.

Yeah I agree how you said that he is doing something he would not image himself doing. I also said that I wonder if he will get farther away from him self or closer.

1.) One uncharacteristic thing that Bryan did in this chapter is when he cut out of school then snuck on to a train and train surfed. I think he is making these decisions because he doesn't want to seem soft around Mike so Mike doesn't judge him.
2.) When Bryan thinks “I feel so far away from where I should be. It might sound silly, but I feel far away from who I am.” I think he means that he is doing many things that he usually would not do. I think he feels this way because he is doing all these crazy things.

Yeah I agree how Bryan doesn’t want to seem soft to Mike. Like, in this set of chapters a couple of times he was going to say something but he said it would make him seem soft.

1.) In this section of chapters, Bryan was making some very uncharacteristic decisions. One of them was when he starts writing the note in his moms handwriting. In some of the chapters before this one, I don ‘t like Bryan would do that. I think he did that because it seems like he starting to like more like his dad.
2.) I think when Bryan says that he means that doing all this reckless stuff, he feels that that this is so different from what his life was like before he met Mike and Mike did all these crazy things with him. I also wonder if he will start to feel “closer to himself” or “farther away”?
